17 Years of Promoting Multiculturalism

In an effort to unite the Greek-lettered organizations that are not members of the North-American Interfraternity Conference, the National Panhellenic Conference, or the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc., the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) was founded in spring 1999.

The Multicultural Greek Council promotes community service events, professionalism, and scholarship. Many of the organizations sponsor or co-sponsor educational programs regarding hazing, discrimination, and personal safety.

All member organizations stress their commitment to the University and Charlottesville communities.

Informational sessions about the fraternities and sororities are held throughout the year.

Currently, the MGC consists of Latin, Asian, multicultural and local fraternities and sororities.

From our Former MGC President

Welcome!

Throughout your University career, you will encounter a student population spanning from across the globe. Roughly a third of these students will proudly wear Greek letters. Multicultural Greek Council is one of four governing bodies this enormous student community. Alongside IFC, ISC, and NPHC, MGC works to manifest the traditional Greek values of Brotherhood, Sisterhood, Scholarship, Leadership, and Community Involvement.

Here at UVA, we pride ourselves in the extensive opportunities available to each and every student. Our MGC chapters offer a personalized Greek experience, regardless of background or previous exposure to Greek Life. Unlike IFC or ISC, the MGC Rush process is at the discretion of each individual chapter. We invite you to attend every event possible and meet the members of our organization.

Each University experience is unique. MGC offers a base of community and support to propel you to greatness during your 4 years here in Charlottesville.
